Frankenstein- Mary
Frankenstein, the novel, begins with a series of letters of a sailor who brings forth a man over board (Victor) who continues to talk about this "Creature" he has created. Victor Frankenstein is the main character from Switzerland. Victor begins to study the structure of the human body and decides he wants to create his own "Monster." Victor then "After having formed this determination, and having spent some months in sucessfully collecting and arranging my materials, I began"(Shelley 40). Victor gathered body parts from the deceased an sucsessfully created "The Creature." Victor sees how ugly the beast is and is unsatisfied so Victor chooses to act as if the monster does not exist. "The Creature" soon becomes educated by studying a family in a nearby cottage. Victor later comes face to face with "The Creature" and has to finally face his fears and talk with his creation.
The novel is not based on "The Creature," it is more based on the creator, Victor. The title of the novel is not related to "The Creature" being refered to as Frankenstein, but Victor being the reason behind the title.
