Education
Terry Burns
Education is a wonderful thing. To the world’s minds, much knowledge it brings. Hide not behind the walls of despair. Set your mind free, hide not your wares. Pursue with your mind all that you can so that one day the taller you’ll be able to stand. Keep your mind focused on reaching your goals. Steer clear the obstacles that stand in the road. One day the finish will come into view and as you cross over your life is anew.
Relation to the Novel:
Terry Burns's Education, shows a point of realization, that students need to "Keep your mind focused on reaching your goals" and "Streer clear of the obstacles that stand in the road" in order to successfully complete the task you have set for yourself to complete. Victor, studied science and philosophy in college and as he learned more about the human body and how it works, Victor began to focus more on the human body studies rather than any other subject. Victor had decided he needed to tell his professors and his father on his newly found interest. Victor noticed "How great was the difficulty to persuade my father that all necessary knowledge was not comprised in the noble art of bookeeping" (46) and that he would be successful in whichever study he decided to presue his education in. |
